Introduction to Gannan Hakka Culture Digitization Research Institute (Jiangxi Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Base)

Gannan Hakka Culture Digitization Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as "Research Institute") was established in July 2015, and was approved by Jiangxi Provincial Department of Culture in November of the same year as a key research base of Culture, art and science in Jiangxi Province. In December 2019, it was approved by Jiangxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism as Jiangxi Province intangible Cultural Heritage Research Base.

Based on local service, the Institute takes Hakka culture, red culture and Songcheng culture as its object, comprehensively grasping the connotation and direction of Hakka culture digitization research, and actively exploring the theoretical research and practical application of Hakka culture in digital technology, artistic value and local economy under the background of cultural digitalization, value diversification and rural revitalization.

First, the research team structure is reasonable

The Institute has a research team with a reasonable structure of age, education and professional titles, rich teaching experience and strong scientific research strength. There are 18 key members of the research base, including 3 professors, 10 associate professors, 5 lecturers, 4 doctors and 3 doctoral candidates. 7 external experts and scholars in related fields. It has established long-term cooperative relations with Shanghai University, Jinan University, Wuhan University of Technology, Shaanxi University of Science and Technology, Jiangxi Normal University, Northwest Normal University, Gannan Normal University and other research institutions and university experts, and has in-depth exchanges with many city and county cultural units.

2. Clear research direction and outstanding results

Since its establishment, the research base has adhered to the research of Hakka intangible culture in southern Gannan as the overall direction, and the research institute is composed of academic committees and university-level scientific research teams. There are four research directions inside, namely, digital protection and dissemination of Hakka culture in southern Jiangxi, digital design of Hakka technology, Hakka cultural gene and digital research, Hakka cultural digital industry research, and Hakka cultural digitalization, with each direction cooperating with each other and promoting each other with distinctive characteristics. At the same time, the Institute actively organized research teams inside and outside the university to conduct research on the intangible culture of Hakka in southern Jiangxi from multiple perspectives such as communication, digitalization and industrialization, and formed a series of academic and practical results. Since the establishment of the research Institute, more than 40 vertical and horizontal research projects have been carried out around the Hakka culture in southern Jiangxi, 16 at the provincial and ministerial level, 20 at the municipal level, and more than 30 academic papers have been published. Local cultural experts were invited to give nine high-level lectures, and five digital exhibitions of local intangible cultural heritage were organized. Completed 6 practical projects of Hakka intangible culture in southern Gannan in cooperation with cultural research units in Ganzhou City, with a horizontal project fund of more than 2 million yuan. The research results have provided new ideas for inheritance and protection of the rich resource culture in southern Jiangxi, and led the development trend of the digitization research of local culture in Jiangxi.

3. Clear research plan

The research base will continue to fully combine the advantages of regional resources, disciplines and scientific research, closely focus on the cultural resources with Hakka characteristics in southern Jiangxi, and use the digital method theory and technology to carry out comprehensive and systematic research. From the digital research on Hakka culture in southern Jiangxi, the research results are forward-looking, distinctive and have important academic and social influence at home and abroad. At the same time, the Institute has further deepened cross-platform cooperation with cultural centers, group art centers and cultural research institutions at all levels in Ganzhou City, providing technical and intellectual support for the development of local culture in southern Jiangxi.
