School of Architecture and Design of Jiangxi University of Science and Technology was established in May 2020 on the basis of the former Department of Urban and Rural Planning and Architecture and the former Design Department of Jiangxi University of Science and Technology. It is a multi-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary teaching and research institution integrating architecture, urban and rural planning and as well as design science. There are 62 faculty members in the school and five undergraduate majors, including urban and rural planning (five-year system), architecture (five-year system), product design, environmental design and digital media art. Among them, digital media art is the first-class specialty in Jiangxi Province, and product design is the undergraduate brand specialty and key construction discipline of colleges and universities in Jiangxi Province.
There are provincial (municipal) academic platforms such as Gannan Hakka Culture Digitalization Research Institute and Gannan Hakka Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Base, among which Gannan Hakka Culture Digitalization Research Institute is the key research base of culture and art science in Jiangxi Province. Besides, there are also internal research platforms such as Urban and Rural Planning and Architecture Research Institute, Architecture and Planning Research Institute and Gannan Interior Design Research Center.
We attach great importance to the construction of teachers' morality. According to the "Four Haves" of qualified teachers proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping, the school continuously is committed to the improvement of teachers' quality, emphasizing self-cultivation and exemplary role of teachers, harmonious relationship between teachers and students, and we try every effort to help student grow. We also attach great importance to the cultivation of students' comprehensive quality, strengthen the combination of theory and practice, and enhance the close connection between campus culture and practical innovation. To improve students' professional quality and practical ability, the school provides various professional practice platforms such as Tianzong Industrial Pioneer Park, Urban Planning and Architecture Experimental Center, Photography and Camera Base, Industrial Design Innovation Practice Center, Decoration Materials Engineering Laboratory and Digital Media Experimental Center, which effectively enhance students' employment and entrepreneurial ability. Students have participated and gotten outstanding grades in all kinds of competitions of different levels, including "German Red Dot Award", "National BIM Graduation Design Innovation Competition", "National Green Building Design Competition for Colleges and Universities", "National College Students Advertising Art Competition", "National Digital Art Competition", "National College Students Industrial Design Competition", "Grain Rain Cup National College Students Sustainable Architectural Design Competition", "National College Students Science and Technology Innovation and Vocational Skills Competition".
New school, new business form, and new atmosphere foster new development. Although the School of Architecture and Design is newly established, all specialties of the school have been mature in a long-term development. The school has a faculty team led by professors, with a collection of masters and professors. The establishment of our school got the support from the superior party and administrative leaders of the University. Under the guidance of the concept of "Great Design and Magnificent Building", the faculty and staff of the whole school will make great efforts and forge ahead, so as to make urban construction and design share a common development, and make teachers and students grow together. We will witness the growth of a vigorous college together.
